Reading Garden

The Reading Garden at the Elmhurst Public Library is dedicated to the memory of John Carroll, a long-time library Trustee who was instrumental in the planning for the new building.

Nestled at the Southwest corner of the building, the Reading Garden is accessible from Prospect Avenue and Wilder Park. With its stone walls and varied plantings, the garden also offers a serene view from the Silent Study Room in the Kids' Library.

The focal point of the garden is Frank Eliscu's statue "Once Upon a Time," which depicts a mother reading to her two children. Other highlights are the two "Dragonfly" benches and the "Butterfly" bench donated by the Elmhurst Garden Club.
